Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipments Co., Ltd. (ROC in short), established in 2011 with registered funds CNY800,000,000, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. In recent years, facing the downturn of domestic and foreign offshore market, ROC made a prompt decision and seized the opportunity to focus new business on offshore wind power equipment and marine ranching equipment, and at last successfully steps out a new road of upgrading.

In 2014, the self-elevating offshore wind power working platform “Huadian 1001”, independently researched, designed and constructed by ROC was formally delivered to China Huadian Corporation. It’s the first domestic self-elevating offshore wind power working platform in real sense, and since then ROC got the fame in this area. Later on, ROC delivered “Huadian Wenqiang” Jack-up Offshore Windpower Working Platform. The 600T Offshore Windpower Platform for Large Parts Replacement, Operation and Maintenance, constructed from the beginning of 2019, is the third generation of offshore windpower operation platform under construction in ROC.

An offshore windpower platform takes at least 18 months for design and construction. How to deliver as quickly as possible while ensuring quality is the main concern for ROC. In terms of “Huadian Wenqiang” Jack-up Offshore Windpower Operation Platform delivered in this February, ROC reasonably drew up a plan for construction period, push ahead with each milestone and finally completed construction within 12 months, which made a new record of shortest construction period for domestic offshore windpower platform. Now, ROC owns a multi-level talents team ranging from research, engineering and management, such as international welding engineers, international painting engineers, senior engineers and primary registered construction engineers. 

To meet market demand, ROC expanded its offshore windpower monopile workshop and purchased lots of infrastructure like large bending machine and 2500T roller carriers successively. “Addition of equipment greatly supported production”. To reduce project cost, ROC established a specialized offshore winpower monopile research team and focused on engineering, quality and management. For engineering, regular meetings were organized, material utilization was improved from 95% to 98.3%, paint consumption factor was reduced to 1.6, and an innovation of sliding effectively solved transportation problem. For quality, ROC had a strict process control and arranged specialized welders for key pats, which improved NDT pass rate to over 99%.

In addition to offshore windpower equipment, ROC aims at new market-marine ranching equipment. “Marine ranching equipment extends marine fishery from epeiric sea to offshore area by combining ocean engineering technology with traditional breed aquatics.

In recent years, China has made a series of arrangement for marine ranching. At present, 233 marine ranching have been established nationwide. Construction of marine ranching is expected to bring opportunity for offshore equipment market. “The intelligent deep-sea net cage constructed by ROC is the first one that uses supra polymer net in net cage in China. It has the advantages of light weight, high strength, strong wind resistance, low investment cost, quick return, convenient maintenance, little environmental pollution, wide audience and low breeding risk”. Since the beginning of marine ranching equipment business this year, all relevant businesses run smoothly.
